Teachers' union to organize protest march in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, Aug. 27 to demand higher pay, reversal of pension cuts.

The Teachers' Federation of Puerto Rico (Federacion de Maestros de Puerto Rico, FMPR) will hold a protest march in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, Aug. 24 beginning at 15:30. The march will depart from Plaza Colon and end outside La Fortaleza, the governor's mansion. Teachers are demanding higher pay and the reversal of pension cuts approved by the Fiscal Oversight and Management Board of Puerto Rico (FOMBPR).

Anticipate transport disruptions in Old San Juan. Avoid the vicinity of the protest march where possible.
