Lebanon: Teachers plan to protest outside Ministry of Education in Beirut Sept. 8

Secondary school teachers plan to demonstrate outside the Ministry of Education in Beirut from 11:00 Sept. 8. Protesters are calling for authorities to fulfill several demands including higher salaries, increased transport subsidies, and improved medical coverage. Dozens to hundreds of individuals could attend the demonstration.

Authorities will likely increase security to monitor the event. Large numbers of protesters will probably cause localized transport disruptions near the Ministry of Education through the afternoon of Sept. 8. Clashes are possible if demonstrators are overly disruptive or if they ignore police orders to disperse.
