Activists plan to protest against LUMA Energy in San Juan and Mayaguez Oct. 1. Demonstrations in both cities will begin at 17:00. The event in San Juan will take place on Calle Resistencia outside the Fortaleza executive mansion. In Mayaguez, protesters will march from underneath the PR-2 Expressway's Viaducto bridge to Plaza Hostos at the University of Puerto Rico - Mayaguez (UPRM).

Protesters are demonstrating against both electricity rate increases as well as intermittent power outages that have continued to affect the territory in recent weeks. Localized transport disruptions in both San Juan and Mayaguez are highly likely in the vicinity of the demonstrations.

Avoid all protests and alter any travel routes that are proximal to the Oct. 1 demonstrations. Heed directives from local authorities.
