Tunisia: Authorities to lift nightly 23:59-05:00 curfew as of Sept. 25 /update 67

Tunisia to end nightly 23:59-05:00 curfew as of Sept. 25; other restrictions remain in place.

Warning

Event

Authorities have announced plans to lift the nationwide 23:59-05:00 nightly curfew from Sept. 25. Authorities will also remove all restrictions on freedom of movement and travel by vehicle.

However, authorities are instituting other COVID-19-related measures. Most establishments can operate at a maximum of 50 percent capacity. Only individuals that are fully vaccinated can attend public gatherings and demonstrations. Travelers are also required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination if they wish to participate in public events. Cafes and restaurants must continue to close to sit-in customers by 22:00 daily.

Authorities require all incoming travelers to provide a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours before arrival to enter Tunisia. All travelers must also download the E7mi tracking application upon arrival.

Travelers who are not fully vaccinated are required to quarantine for a period of 10 days on arrival at a government-approved hotel. Those who present evidence of full vaccination are required to self-isolate for 10 days at a hotel or their residence.

Authorities reopened the country's air and land borders with Libya Sept. 17.

Authorities will likely implement localized restrictions throughout Tunisia, particularly in regions that experience a rise in COVID-19 cases. Authorities could reimpose, extend, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all business appointments and travel arrangements. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments.
