Fighting between Taliban forces and another armed group are ongoing in Herat city Oct. 24. Details are still emerging, but reports indicate the violence is occurring in police districts (PDs) 8 and 15. There are unconfirmed reports of casualties. The combatants that Taliban forces are engaging are also unconfirmed but thought to be previously allied with a local mullah, and have since allied themselves with a local Islamic State-Khorasan (IS-K) cell.
