Afghanistan: Pakistan International Airlines (PK) suspends flight operations at Kabul International Airport (KBL) as of Oct. 14
Pakistan International Airlines (PK) suspends flights to and from Kabul (KBL), Afghanistan, as of Oct. 14 over tensions with Taliban.
Event
Pakistan International Airlines (PK) has suspended flights to and from Kabul International Airport (KBL) as of Oct. 14 due to alleged interference by Taliban authorities. The decision was announced after Afghan Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation officials ordered the airline to reduce ticket prices to the same level as existed before the Taliban seized control of Kabul in August.
The airline has said the suspension will remain in effect until the situation improves. As a result, flight disruptions are likely at KBL at least over the coming days.
Context
Pakistan International Airlines had not yet resumed commercial flight operations at KBL but was the only major international carrier operating regular charter flights to and from the airport.
Pakistan International Airlines has said its flights out of KBL had been frequently delayed by the unprofessional conduct of local authorities and that notably, in at least one instance, an airline representative was held at gunpoint for several hours.
Advice
Confirm flights to and from KBL. Heed all official security and transport advisories. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed.
