U.S. officials have reported a drone attack at the Al-Tanf military base, which houses U.S. coalition forces, in Homs Governorate late Oct. 20. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, although Iranian-backed militias are likely behind it. There have been no initial reports of casualties.
Increased security measures are likely at and near the base. Airstrikes, retaliatory actions, and further attacks are possible over the coming days.
Al-Tanf is approximately 220 km (137 miles) east of Damascus.
