Authorities in Tunisia introduce new COVID-19 measures for travelers as of Oct. 14. Other restrictions in place.

Warning

Event

Authorities in Tunisia have introduced new COVID-19 measures for travelers as of Oct. 14. All travelers aged 12 and older must present a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of their flight to the country. The measure does not apply to vaccinated travelers.

Unvaccinated travelers or those who are not fully vaccinated must undergo a seven-day mandatory quarantine at a government-approved hotel. Individuals must provide authorities with a copy of their hotel reservation, demonstrating that they are willing to comply with the quarantine requirements. All travelers arriving by air must complete the Tunisian government online questionnaire, which can be found here. All travelers must also download the E7mi tracking application upon arrival.

Authorities reopened the country's air and land borders with Libya Sept. 17.

Domestic Measures
Most establishments can operate at a maximum of 50 percent capacity. Only individuals that are fully vaccinated can attend public gatherings and demonstrations. Travelers are also required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination if they wish to participate in public events.

Authorities will likely implement localized restrictions throughout Tunisia, particularly in regions that experience a rise in COVID-19 cases. Authorities could reimpose, extend, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all business appointments and travel arrangements. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments.
