The Federation of Secondary Education has announced a one-day nationwide strike in Tunisia on Nov. 9. The labor action is being organized to denounce the stabbing of a high school teacher by a student at a high school in Ezzahra, Ben Arous Governorate, Nov. 8. Union leaders are demanding that authorities undertake serious actions to prevent alleged growing violence against public teachers.

There have been no calls for related protest actions; however, associated demonstrations are possible outside the Ministry of Education in Tunis, schools, and the Regional Directorates of Education across the country. Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are possible if protests occur, especially if there is a large turnout.
