Political events related to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's state visit to the Maldives will occur in central Male City Dec. 23. Authorities will increase security and temporarily close pedestrian and vehicle traffic in several areas, such as Republic Square, President's Office, Hotel Jen, and Parliament House 07:00-20:00. Affected roads include Boduthakurufaanu Magu, Naadhee Goalhi, Shaheed Adam Naseer Hingun, and Shaheed Abdulla Zuhair Hingun, as well as Orchid Magu-Republic Square, Ameer Ahmed Magu-Finihiyaa Goalhi, and Sosun Magu-Medhuziyaaraih Magu junctions, among others. Officials have also suspended ferry services at Izzuddin Jetty as of Dec. 23. Authorities did not announce any specific security threats against the event.
