Russia: Protest likely in Moscow Dec. 29 in response to a court session
Protesters are likely to gather at the Moscow City Court in Moscow, Russia Dec. 29 coinciding with a court session.

Protests supporting the Memorial Human Rights Center, part of the Memorial International group, are likely near the Moscow City Court Dec. 29. The organization faces charges of violating funding legislation and possible shutdown. Dozens of Memorial supporters gathered near the Supreme Court building Dec. 28 to protest a court decision banning the group. Authorities arrested several protesters and counter-protesters before breaking up the demonstration.
Security forces will almost certainly deploy to monitor related gatherings; violence cannot be ruled out if police forcibly disperse crowds. Further arrests are also possible. Traffic and business disruptions are likely near all protest sites.
