Authorities are maintaining the COVID-19-related State of Calamity until at least Jan. 31, and all related measures as of Jan. 10.
Domestic Measures
Facemasks are mandatory in enclosed public areas and inside vehicles.
Public gatherings are limited to 50-percent capacity.
Nightclubs and festivals continue to be banned.
Individuals wishing to travel between Principe and Sao Tome must present a negative rapid test taken within 48 hours before departure.
International Travel Restrictions
International arrivals must present a negative PCR test result obtained no more than 72 hours before departure.
Travelers without proof of a PCR test or displaying symptoms may be refused entry.
Travelers may also undergo a test at a medical facility upon arrival in Sao Tome and Principe. Dates and timings of tests are dependent on the day of arrival and the airline. It is unclear if travelers will have to isolate for the duration of the process.
To exit Sao Tome and Principe, the entry rules of the destination country apply. Travelers to Portugal must present a negative antigen test taken 48 hours before departure or a PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before departure even if they have a digital European vaccination certificate.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
