Authorities will tighten security in Guwahati, Assam, Feb. 25-26 for a visit by President Ram Kath Kovind. Kath will inaugurate a celebration commemorating the 400th anniversary of the birth of military commander Lachit Borphukan. Officials will enact traffic restrictions on both days; police will ban the movement of goods transport vehicles at varying times between 05:00-12:30 Feb. 25-26 on major roadways, including National Highways (NH) 17 and 27. Officials will also restrict transport from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) to Kamakhya Gate 11:20-12:15, from Kamakhya Gate to Koinadhora along multiple roadways 12:30-13:40, as well as on GS and Panjabari roads 17:00-18:45.

Security personnel will also likely deploy to sites that Kath will visit, especially government buildings. Officials may close nearby roadways, causing localized transport disruptions. It is unclear where the inauguration event will occur, though likely locations include statues and monuments to Lachit Bophukan.
