Togo: Authorities maintain COVID-19 measures unchanged as of March 23 /update 27

Event

As of March 23, authorities maintain COVID-19-related domestic measures and travel restrictions unchanged. Land borders remain closed to regular passenger traffic without special authorization. Local media reports indicate that authorities may announce the reopening of land borders to passenger traffic over the coming days or weeks.

Domestic Measures
Sporting, social, and cultural events are permitted; only vaccinated persons may attend. Individuals need to present proof of vaccination or a negative test to enter public buildings and hotels. The mandatory use of facemasks in select public areas and on public transportation remains in effect.

International Travel Restrictions
All travelers arriving in the country must complete a Traveller Declaration Form (TDF) at least 24 hours before departure. Upon boarding for Togo, passengers must provide proof of a negative PCR test taken no more than five days before departure that must be uploaded within the TDF. Authorities require passengers to take another PCR test on arrival at Lome-Tokoin International Airport (Gnassingbe Eyadema International Airport, LFW); the test must be paid before departure. Individuals who test positive will be placed under strict quarantine until they test negative.

Those departing from Lome must fill out the TDF and provide proof of a negative PCR test taken no more than five days before departure. The period may be extended depending on the testing requirement of the country of destination.

The EU has recognized the COVID-19 vaccination certificate issued by Togo on Nov. 24 as equivalent to those issued by the EU Member States. As a result, Togo has recognized the EU Digital COVID Certificate.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity. Health and sanitary checkpoints are also possible on major routes.
