Authorities in Tunisia mandate a five-day quarantine period upon arrival for unvaccinated travelers over the age of 18 as of March 1.

Warning

Event

Tunisian authorities have mandated a five-day quarantine period upon arrival for unvaccinated travelers over the age of 18 as of March 1. These travelers, who may self-isolate at the place of their stay, must also present proof of a negative result from either a PCR test taken less than 48 hours before travel or a rapid lateral flow test administered less than 24 hours before departure for Tunisia. Unvaccinated individuals traveling to Tunisia after taking a rapid lateral flow test must have dated proof of the negative result and an accompanying quick response (QR) code.

Additionally, authorities may subject any arriving traveler over the age of 18 to a random COVID-19 test upon arrival. Individuals testing positive in an on-arrival test must self-isolate for five days; travelers displaying symptoms of COVID-19 infection through the five-day period must continue to isolate for another two days.

Domestic Measures
Authorities have lifted the previously implemented nationwide nightly curfew. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required to enter public spaces; compliance is mandatory for both Tunisians and foreigners. Public places are enforcing hygiene measures. Gatherings, protests, and other events are banned. Wearing a facemask is required in public spaces and while using public transport for individuals over the age of six.

Authorities may implement localized COVID-19-related restrictions in parts of Tunisia, particularly in regions that experience a rise in COVID-19 cases.

International Travel Restrictions
Authorities in Tunisia require arriving international travelers over the age of 18 to present either valid proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or a valid negative COVID-19 test result. Individuals vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine must have been inoculated at least 28 days before traveling to Tunisia; those inoculated with other vaccines must have been vaccinated at least seven days before travel. As mentioned above, unvaccinated travelers must present a negative result from either a PCR test taken less than 48 hours before travel or a rapid lateral flow test taken less than 24 hours before travel to Tunisia; individuals traveling with a negative lateral flow test must have dated proof of a negative result as well as a QR code. Arriving travelers under the age of 18 are exempt from satisfying the pre-travel vaccination and test requirements.

Travelers must share contact information and travel details with authorities upon arrival in Tunisia.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all business appointments and travel arrangements. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments.
