A magnitude-5.9 offshore earthquake occurred east of Vanuatu's island of Espiritu Santo at around 08:57 VUT March 24. The epicenter was about 34 km (21 miles) east-southeast of Port Olry, Vanuatu. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 112 km (69 miles), and light shaking was probably felt in parts of Vanuatu near the epicenter. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake; significant damage is unlikely.
