Firefighting crews are battling a major blaze that broke out at the Azersun Industrial Park in Sumqayit as of late April 28. The fire has reportedly been burning for at least five hours and is still burning out of control. Several explosions have also been reported at the site. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

A large emergency services presence will probably remain in the area into at least the early hours of April 29, as crews continue to work to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading. Localized ground transport disruptions are likely.

Avoid the area until authorities give the all-clear. Seek alternative routes to circumvent the incident site. Consider remaining indoors if smoke is heavy, especially if you suffer from a respiratory illness such as asthma, or conditions that lead to increased risk from smoke exposure.
