Informational

Event

The Indian National Congress Party (INC) has called for sit-in protests at 13 district headquarters across eastern Rajasthan State from 11:00 April 13. The action is to demand the central government declare an irrigation project as a national project, among others. Protests will occur in Ajmer, Alwar, Baran, Bharatpur, Karauli, Kota, Bundi, Dausa, Dholpur, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Sawai Madhopur, and Tonk districts. Venue details are unclear; dozens to a couple of hundred people may participate in each demonstration.

Popular protest venues include central government offices, district collector offices, major traffic intersections, and public squares. Security personnel will likely deploy to monitor any large gatherings; security cordons around government buildings are possible. Demonstrators may march on or block roadways near rally sites. Although unlikely, minor skirmishes may break out if protestors attempt to breach security cordons.

Advice

Avoid all rallies as a precaution. Plan for travel delays near protest locations. Monitor trusted local media for protest updates, as organizers may change or announce plans at short notice. Heed all security and traffic advisories.
