Lebanon: Authorities modify COVID-19-related international travel restrictions as of April 10 /update 68

Lebanon modifies COVID-19-related travel restrictions as of April 10. Other domestic measures continue.

Warning

Event

As of April 10, fully vaccinated individuals and those who have received a third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine may enter Lebanon without a negative result from a pre-travel COVID-19 test, regardless of the date they received their booster shot. The country's other COVID-19-related restrictions continue.

Domestic Measures
Individuals must present proof of having received at least one shot of an accepted COVID-19 vaccine or a negative result from a PCR test taken within the previous 48 hours to enter restaurants, hotels, and tourism-sector establishments. Moreover, those who do not meet one of these conditions are subject to a nightly 19:00-06:00 curfew. All establishments are limited to operating at 50 percent capacity. Wearing a facemask is required in all public spaces, including in vehicles unless traveling alone. Taxis and private cars are limited to transporting a maximum of four people, including the driver. Buses may transport up to 50 percent of the vehicle's capacity.

International Travel Restrictions
Individuals who are fully vaccinated and who have received a second shot of a COVID-19 vaccine or a single dose as part of a one-shot COVID-19 vaccine within the last six months may enter Lebanon without a negative result from a pre-travel COVID-19 test; travelers who have received a third shot of a COVID-19 vaccine are also exempt from the pre-travel testing requirement, regardless of the date on which they received their booster shot. Additionally, travelers who have left Lebanon and will return to the country within one week are exempt from taking a PCR or rapid antigen test before their return flight to Lebanon.

All other travelers (e.g., unvaccinated travelers), except for children under the age of 12, must have a negative result from either a PCR test taken within 48 hours before departure or a rapid antigen test taken within 24 hours before travel. Individuals traveling with a negative result from a rapid antigen test must have an accompanying quick response (QR) code.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements before departure for Lebanon. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments.
