Employees of the telecommunications company, Mauritel, plan to initiate work stoppages from 10:00-13:00 on May 5, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 24, and 30. The action has been called to demand better wages.

Mauritel service disruptions are possible during work stoppages; however, any disruptions are likely to be short-lived unless workers extend stoppage periods. There are no reports of associated protests; however, gatherings are possible near Mauritel offices, including in Nouakchott. Officials may deploy to demonstration sites. Dozens to a few hundred people could participate in associated actions. Violence is unlikely.
