Mongolia: Protests in Ulaanbaatar, April 8; further protests possible April 9-10

The US Embassy in Mongolia issued a statement April 8 warning of protests in Ulaanbaatar April 8 and through the weekend April 9-10. The embassy indicated that protests have occurred near Sukhbaatar Square and that multiple arrests, road closures, and injuries have been reported in this area and towards the Ikh Tenger palace. The gatherings are in opposition to the government.
Heightened security is likely near all protests through at least April 10. Further localized ground travel disruptions and violence may occur.
