Traders and workers protested in Wana April 17 to denounce the closure of the Wana Bazaar and Angoor Adda border crossing with Afghanistan; authorities had closed the bazaar and crossing point following attacks in recent days. Security forces fired into the air to disperse the gathering. Officials are imposing Section 144 orders, which ban gatherings of five or more people, through at least April 25. Internet services have also reportedly been suspended in the area.
