A magnitude-5.9 earthquake occurred in northern East New Britain Province, Papua New Guinea at around 13:00 PGT April 13. The epicenter was about 34 km (21 miles) west-southwest of Kokopo. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 147 km (91 miles), and light shaking was probably felt throughout East New Britain, New Ireland, and eastern West New Britain provinces.
