Papua New Guinea: Power disruptions to occur in Kimbe, West New Britain Province, May 2-27

Utility provider Power PNG has announced load shedding in Kimbe, West New Britain Province, May 2-27 due to planned maintenance work. Load shedding will occur 08:00-12:00 in several locations, including Morokea, Gigo, Section 15, Section 11, and Navio. Power disruptions will affect other parts of the city, including Kisere, Ruago, Aling, Dagi, and Section 10, 12:00-17:00. Electricity supply could remain limited outside of load shedding hours.

Temporary commercial, communications, and transport disruptions are possible during the outages. Businesses without backup generators may suspend operations. Mobile voice and data services could also be affected. Traffic disruptions are possible due to malfunctioning traffic signals. Power disruptions could also affect ATMs and fueling stations. Potable water supply interruptions may occur in locations dependent on electronic water filtration or pump systems.
