Police have launched a major operation to search for a suspect who shot at least 10 people in a train car at the 36th Street subway station in the Sunset Park area of Brooklyn, New York, New York, early April 12. In total, at least 16 people have been wounded in connection with the shooting. Officials have confirmed that no explosive devices have been discovered following earlier reports of an explosion; however, authorities have found multiple smoke devices. The event is not being investigated as a terror-related incident.

Subway service in New York is experiencing major disruptions and delays following the shooting incident. Authorities have suspended subway service on the B and W lines, as well as on the D, N, and R lines in parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan; residual delays will probably impact affected lines after service resumes. Major delays are also likely on D, F, M, N, Q, and R trains, among others, over the coming hours.
