Ecuador continues to update COVID-19-related domestic measures as of May 17.

Warning

Event

As of May 17, authorities in Ecuador continue to update COVID-19-related restrictions. The use of facemasks is no longer required nationwide and authorities are maintaining minimal domestic measures.

Domestic Measures
Authorities have lifted most COVID-19 restrictions and most businesses are able to operate without restrictions. Facemasks are no longer required in the country, with few exceptions. Facemasks must still be worn by those presenting COVID-19 symptoms and when in medical facilities and hospitals. Authorities continue to encourage individuals to wear facemasks in crowded indoor spaces and on public transport. Proof of vaccination may be required to attend certain events and enter certain non-essential businesses.

International Travel Restrictions
All arriving passengers must present a completed Traveler Health Declaration form upon arrival; the form is available here. Additionally, passengers aged three or older must present one of the following:

  • A negative result from an RT-PCR test; the test must be taken no more than 72 hours before departure for Ecuador, or

  • Proof of having been vaccinated with a full course of an approved COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days before departure for the country, or

  • Proof of a positive COVID-19 test result no older than one year and no fewer than 14 days before departure, accompanied by a medical certificate of recovery.

Passengers presenting COVID-19 symptoms are subject to testing and quarantine upon arrival. Nonresidents must complete the quarantine period at a hotel at their own expense.

All restrictions are subject to amendment at short notice, depending on local disease activity.
