Taiwan Railway Labor Union plans to strike nationwide June 3 to protest the government's plan to privatize the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA). As many as 1,400 workers could participate in the strike. Striking workers may also protest; possible gathering locations include government buildings, such as the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.

Rail service disruptions are possible throughout Taiwan during the strike. Heightened demand for alternative transport is likely. Increased use of alternative transport could increase traffic congestion. Demonstrations will likely remain peaceful but could cause localized transport disruptions.
