Staff at airports in Paris, France, to strike June 30-July 3; airport and flight disruptions likely.

Warning

Event

Unions representing workers at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Paris Orly (ORY) airports have called for a strike June 30-July 3 to demand improved pay and working conditions. Additionally, striking workers will demonstrate at 09:00 July 1 at Terminal 2E, Gate 18 at CDG, as well as at Orly Terminal 4 at ORY; further gatherings are possible throughout the strike period.

It remains unclear how many employees will participate in the work stoppages. Nevertheless, authorities at CDG have asked carriers to reduce arrivals and departures between 07:00-14:00 June 30; this instruction could be extended through July 3. Short-notice flight delays and cancelations are likely at both facilities for the duration of the labor action. Staffing shortages could cause delays during check-in and clearing security. Disruptions could persist into July 4 as airport authorities and carriers reposition aircraft and resolve passenger backlogs. Any associated demonstrations that may materialize will probably remain peaceful, but related increased security could disrupt access to airport facilities around the demonstration sites.

Advice

Confirm flights if booked to fly via CDG or ORY June 30-July 4. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider alternative travel arrangements if necessary. Arrive early at airports early to allow extra time to clear passenger processing and airport security procedures.
