Papua New Guinea: Authorities reopen Mount Hagen International Airport as of June 9 /update 2
Officials reopen Mount Hagen International Airport in Papua New Guinea as of June 9.
Event
Authorities have reopened Mount Hagen International (Kagamuga) Airport (HGU) following an oil spill. Delayed reports indicate that flights resumed at HGU the afternoon of June 8, with enhanced security at the facility. Officials suspended flights at the airport for more than 24 hours after trespassers spilled oil on the runway early June 7. Authorities indicate that the incident may have been politically motivated.
Advice
Allow extra time to arrive at HGU due to possible enhanced security checks.
