Authorities to ease COVID-19 measures in low-risk areas of Si County, Anhui Province, China, from July 14. Localized lockdowns likely.

Warning

Event

Officials in Anhui Province will lift COVID-19 lockdown measures in low-risk areas of Si County from July 14. Authorities previously imposed stay-home measures and entry and exit controls in Lingbi and Si counties due to COVID-19 activity; officials lifted the restrictions in low-risk areas of Lingbi County July 13. The government could continue to conduct mass testing for residents in both locations as a precaution.

The tightest curbs remain in place in high- and medium-risk areas. As of July 13, there are at least 70 high- and medium-risk areas located in Lingbi and Si counties in Anhui Province. Residents and individuals with recent exposure to these areas must remain in their homes; exceptions may be possible for emergencies and essential reasons. Officials restrict travel to and from the affected communities. Authorities typically maintain measures until two weeks after the latest confirmed community case and will probably carry out several rounds of testing before easing restrictions. Authorities will usually distribute food and essential items to households under strict stay-home protocols.

Authorities could reimpose strict controls, such as stay-at-home orders, if there are new COVID-19 cases. The government may impose gathering, business, and travel restrictions in the affected areas of Anhui Province as a precaution if new cases emerge. Increased health screenings are likely at airports and other passenger transport hubs in Anhui province.

Si County is approximately 200km (124 miles) northeast of Hefei.
