Warning

Event

Authorities are enforcing tighter COVID-19 curbs in parts of Beihai, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, as of July 18. Lockdown measures are in effect in the downtown area of Beihai. All tourist attractions must close. Nonessential businesses and entertainment venues are suspended. As of July 18, there are at least 86 high-risk and 70 medium-risk areas located in Haicheng and Yinhai districts. Officials require residents of and individuals with recent exposure to the locations to remain in their homes; exceptions may be possible for emergencies and essential reasons. Authorities are restricting travel to and from the affected communities. Security personnel will enforce checkpoints in these areas to ensure compliance with movement restrictions. Authorities typically extend measures until two weeks after the latest date of newly confirmed community cases. Officials will likely carry out several rounds of testing in the affected areas before easing restrictions.

Officials could impose tighter restrictions if there are new COVID-19 cases. Strict controls, such as stay-at-home orders and closure of nonessential businesses, are possible. The government may impose gathering, business, and travel restrictions in Beihai and other parts of Guangxi as a precaution if new cases emerge. Increased health screenings will likely continue at border checkpoints, ports, and other passenger transport hubs throughout Guangxi. Supply chain delays and disruptions remain possible at border checkpoints in Guangxi due to COVID-19 health protocols. Other provincial and municipal governments will probably require individuals who have recently traveled to high- and medium-risk areas in Guangxi to undergo COVID-19 testing and/or mandatory institutional quarantine periods.
