China: Officials tighten COVID-19-related restrictions in Wugang, Henan Province, July 12
Officials in Henan Province, China, implementing tighter COVID-19-related restrictions in Wugang as of July 12. Disruptions likely.
Event
Officials in Henan Province are tightening restrictions in Wugang due to COVID-19 concerns as of July 12. Lockdown measures are in place for three days from July 11. All residents must stay at home and mass testing is underway. Only essential vehicles are allowed on roads. Authorities likely require nonessential businesses to close.
Authorities are implementing localized stay-home measures in other parts of Henan Province. As of July 12, there are at least 15 medium- and high-risk areas located in Zhengdong New District and High-Tech Zone in Zhengzhou, as well as Biyang and Zhenping counties. Residents and individuals with recent exposure to these areas must remain in their homes; exceptions may be possible for emergencies and essential reasons. Officials restrict travel to and from the affected communities. Authorities typically maintain measures until two weeks after the latest confirmed community case and will probably carry out several rounds of testing before easing restrictions.
Additional measures are likely if there are new COVID-19 cases. Strict controls, such as stay-at-home orders, may occur in other areas of Henan Province in the coming days. Production and supply chain disruptions are likely in Wugang and areas affected by COVID-19 exit and entry controls.
Wugang is approximately 135km (83 miles) south of Zhengzhou.
Advice
Strictly heed the instructions of authorities. Avoid all nonessential operations in areas impacted by travel controls. Confirm appointments. Remain cooperative if approached and questioned by law enforcement officers.
