Rwanda: Officials ease COVID-19-related travel measures as of July 12 /update 46

Officials in Rwanda remove COVID-19-related test on arrival as of July 12. Domestic measures unchanged.

Event

As of July 12, officials in Rwanda have removed the mandatory COVID-19 test on arrival for international arrivals. Travelers are no longer required to complete the Passenger Locator Form. In addition, departing passengers are no longer required to present a negative test before departure. Domestic measures remain unchanged.

Domestic Measures

  • The mandatory mask requirement has been lifted.

  • Individuals must be fully vaccinated in order to access public places and transportation.

  • The government requires all business employees to be fully vaccinated.

  • Nightclubs and bars must close by 02:00.

International Travel Restrictions

  • All arriving and transiting passengers at Kigali International Airport (KGL) must provide a negative PCR or rapid test result taken within 72 hours before departure.

  • All Rwandans departing the country must be fully vaccinated.

  • Land borders are open; authorities may conduct random testing of arrivals.

Authorities will review and update the nation's COVID-19 measures after one month.
