Authorities have suspended telecommunications services in parts of Kabul as of Aug. 8. Authorities have stated that the measures are in effect to maintain security during the Ashura holiday. Multiple services, including Afghan Wireless Network, Etisalat, MTN, Roshan, and Salaam, are affected. Media reports indicate outages are occurring in central and western parts of the city, such as Dasht-e-Barchi, Gul Surkh, Khair Khana, Kot-e-Sangi, and Macroyan. Calling and internet services are disrupted in affected areas.
