Bangladesh: Bangladesh Nationalist Party plans nationwide protests Aug. 11-12

Organizers will demonstrate outside BNP headquarters in Dhaka Aug. 11. On Aug. 12, BNP activists will hold rallies at the party’s district level headquarters across Bangladesh. Additional details of the protests remain unclear. The highest participation is likely in Dhaka and other major cities.

Authorities will likely deploy increased security to monitor the protests. Activists may block or march on roadways, prompting localized transport disruptions. Clashes with police cannot be ruled out, particularly if any of the rallies become unruly.
