Protests condemning military action planned or are likely in several locations in Israel and the West Bank, PT, Aug. 6 and 7.
Event
Protests in response to the escalating conflict in Gaza are planned or are likely in Israel and the West Bank Aug. 6 and 7. Activists have called for protests in several locations Aug. 6 to oppose Israeli military action in Gaza. Some scheduled events are listed below:
Umm al-Fahm: City entrance from 16:00.
Shefa Amr: City's municipality building during the evening.
Haifa: Al Assir Square from 19:00
Al-Taybeh: Gathering from 19:00
The High Follow-Up Committee for Arab citizens of Israel has also called for popular activities in opposition to the conflict without providing specific details.
Protests will likely occur in other Arab Palestinian towns across Israel and throughout the West Bank Aug. 6 and 7. Gathering locations include public squares, city and town centers, major road routes, and government buildings. Security forces will almost certainly deploy to monitor all gatherings. Clashes between protesters and security personnel are likely if demonstrators ignore orders to disperse or if they are overly disruptive. Clashes are almost certain to occur if demonstrators approach Israeli settlements or checkpoints in the West Bank. Counter-protests may also occur. Road travel disruptions are likely near all protest sites.
Advice
Avoid all protests. Heed the instructions of security officials. Do not drive through protest roadblocks. Wait for officials to clear them. Should violence occur, leave the area immediately. Plan for road travel delays. Reconfirm the status of road routes before departure.
