Organizers have canceled the protest initially planned outside Sogo shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur at 14:00 Aug. 20. Protest leaders will instead hold an announcement event for a nationwide campaign to highlight the central government's alleged policy failures. The meeting will occur at Amjal Restaurant at 15:00 the same day.

Dozens to several hundred supporters and members of the media could attend the gathering. Heightened security is likely. A large turnout could prompt localized business and transport disruptions.

Avoid the event site Aug. 20 as a precaution. Allow additional time to reach destinations if traveling near the affected area. Heed all official traffic and security advisories.
