Rwanda: Officials ease COVID-19-related travel protocol as of Aug. 16 /update 47

Rwanda authorities remove all COVID-19-related testing requirements as of Aug. 16. Limited domestic measures in place.

Event

As of Aug. 16, officials in Rwanda have removed all mandatory COVID-19-related testing requirements for international travelers. Passengers are also no longer required to complete the Passenger Locator Form. Domestic measures remain unchanged.

Domestic Measures

  • Individuals must be fully vaccinated in order to access public places and transportation.

  • The government requires all business employees to be fully vaccinated.

  • Cultural sites and national parks may require negative results.

International Travel Restrictions

  • All Rwandans aged 12 years and above departing the country must be fully vaccinated.

  • Land borders are open; authorities may conduct random testing of arrivals.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation.
