Taiwan: Authorities to ration water in Keelung and parts of New Taipei from Sept. 3
Authorities in Taiwan to ration water in Keelung and parts of New Taipei 23:00-05:00 daily from Sept. 3. Commercial disruptions possible.
Event
The Ministry of Economic Affairs has ordered water rationing measures in Keelung City and Xizhi District, New Taipei City, from Sept. 3 due to significantly reduced water levels at the Xinshan Reservoir. Officials plan to reduce water pressure in both locations 23:00-05:00 daily. Authorities have not announced when the rationing scheme will end.
Reduced water pressure is unlikely to impact residents in either location significantly. However, some business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water for operations.
Advice
Minimize water use during the rationing period daily. Confirm and stock up alternative water supplies for business purposes. Water pressure and quality may be poor after normal service resumes daily; consider running taps for several minutes before using water.
