Informational

Event

Tunisian authorities are maintaining precautionary measures as of Aug. 31 to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Domestic Measures
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required to enter public spaces; compliance is mandatory for both Tunisians and foreigners. Public places are enforcing hygiene measures. Gatherings, protests, and other events are banned. Wearing a facemask is required in public spaces and while using public transport for individuals over the age of six.

Authorities may implement localized COVID-19-related restrictions in parts of Tunisia, particularly in regions that experience a rise in COVID-19 cases.

International Travel Restrictions
Authorities require arriving international travelers over the age of 18 to present either valid proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or a valid negative COVID-19 test result. Individuals vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine must have been inoculated at least 28 days before traveling to Tunisia; those inoculated with other vaccines must have been vaccinated at least seven days before travel. Unvaccinated travelers, meanwhile, must present a negative result from a PCR test taken less than 48 hours before travel. Arriving travelers under the age of 18 are exempt from satisfying the pre-travel vaccination and test requirements.

Additionally, authorities may subject any arriving traveler over the age of 18 to a random COVID-19 test upon arrival. Individuals testing positive in an on-arrival test must self-isolate for five days; travelers displaying symptoms of COVID-19 infection through the five-day period must continue to isolate for another two days.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all business appointments and travel arrangements. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments.
