Guyana, Suriname: Cross-border ferry services resume /update 1
Ferry services between Guyana and Suriname resume.
Event
Cross-border ferry services between Moleson Creek and South Drain on the Courantyne River have resumed as of Sept. 30 after engine issues caused a disruption. The ferry is one of the few land routes between Guyana and Suriname.
Lingering disruptions to shipping may persist as businesses work through the backlog created by the initial disruptions.
Moleson Creek is around 155 km (96 miles) southeast of Georgetown; South Drain is about 212 km (132 miles) west of Paramaribo.
Advice
Check the status of shipments through the affected route. Allow additional time for shipments; use alternative shipping methods for time-sensitive freight.
