Environmental activists affiliated with the Extinction Rebellion (XR) movement plan to block the Adelaide Convention Center in Adelaide to prevent access to the Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition, Oct. 17-19. Organizers have called for supporters to gather at 07:00 Oct. 17 and 07:30 Oct. 18 and 19. Activists also plan to conduct additional actions during the conference. Hundreds of protesters have attended similar demonstrations.

Authorities will increase security near the convention center; roadblocks are likely, especially on North Terrace and Montefiore roads. Activists may block and/or march along nearby roadways. Localized transport disruptions are likely. While the demonstration will probably remain largely peaceful, minor confrontations between police and protesters could occur.
