Mutliple unions, including those representing air traffic controllers, set to strike nationwide in Italy Oct. 21.

Warning

Event

Multiple unions in the transport sector have called for strike action across Italy Oct. 21. The European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol) has stated that air traffic controllers will strike 00:01-23:59 Oct. 21. Other workers within the aviation sector also plan to strike intermittently throughout Oct. 21. Various other unions representing public transportation workers have also called for strikes on the day. Some sectors may start related action late Oct. 20. A full list of impacted sectors is available on the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport website available by clicking here.

Widespread disruptions to public transport are almost certain late Oct. 20-early Oct. 22. Increased demand for available alternative transportation is likely. Strike-related pickets could occur. These are likely near transport hubs, government buildings, public squares and city centers. Significant picket-related disruptions are unlikely.

Advice

Confirm all air, ground and sea transport services Oct. 20-22. Prepare for delays and increased demand for available public transport. Exercise caution near any related gatherings. Monitor official channels for updates on strike action in your travel area.
