Italy: Unionized transport workers to strike nationwide April 26
Unionized rail and local public transport employees to strike across Italy, April 26. Transport disruptions likely.
Unionized public transport workers plan to strike nationwide on April 26. National and regional railways, and local public transport services, will likely be severely impacted. The Confail Faisa labor union is demanding increased salaries and improved safety measures for its affiliates. National and local transport service work stoppages will vary by region. As of April 23, the following work stoppages are planned:
Rome and Lazio region: The strike will last 08:30-12:30, and likely include the Metromare and Roma Civita Castellana Viterbo railways, and local networks managed by RomaTpl and Autoservizi Troiani/Sap.
Bologna and Ferrara: The strike will last 11:30-15:30. Bus and coach services will be impacted, and public transport services are not guaranteed. The Marconi Express service from Bologna to Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) will also likely be impacted.
Milan: The strike will impact ATM vehicles, buses, metro, trams, and trolleybuses from 08:45 to 12:45.
Naples: The strike will impact the funicular service from 10:50-15:20, the metro system from 10:20-15:50, and local rail, trams, buses, and trolleybuses from 11:00-15:00.
Disruptions may linger for several hours after the strikes end. Striking workers could picket at transport hubs; heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near any demonstrations that occur. Confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or frustrated travelers cannot be ruled out.
Reconfirm planned travel during the affected hours. Consider alternative forms of transport for critical travel. Avoid any strike-related demonstrations that may occur. Heed instructions from authorities.
