Europe: Activists to protest in several cities Nov. 23-25
Women's rights activists plan to stage protests across Europe Nov. 23-25. Increased security, transport disruptions likely.
Political activists and women's rights advocates plan to protest in several cities across Europe Nov. 23-25 to denounce gender-based violence ahead of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women held on Nov. 25. Participation will vary by location; however, large crowds are expected. The largest anticipated gatherings are the following:
Berlin, Germany: Participants will march from Niederkirchner Street to Kloster Street from 16:00 on Nov. 25.
Bern, Switzerland: Participants will gather at Bern railway station from 11:30, and at Schutzenmatte Square from 14:00 to march towards Bundesplatz on Nov. 23.
Eskisehir, Turkiye: Participants will gather at Espark Shopping Mall on Yilmaz Buyukersen Street from 18:00 on Nov. 25.
Malaga, Spain: Participants will gather at La Merced Square from 19:30 on Nov. 25.
Paris, France: Participants will gather at Gare du Nord from 14:00 on Nov. 23. The protest route and destination remain unclear.
Rome, Italy: Participants will gather at Ostiense Square from 14:00 and march to Vittorio Emanuele II Square on Nov. 23.
Additional demonstrations, public events, workshops, and associated actions will likely occur in other major urban centers across Europe from Nov. 23 to Nov. 25.
Authorities will likely deploy increased security near protest sites. Localized road travel and transport disruptions are likely near affected areas. Violence is unlikely to occur at the events.
Avoid all protests as a standard precaution. Allow extra time to reach destinations near the affected areas. Heed the instructions of law enforcement officers.
