Unionized employees of Ansaldo Energia in Genoa are currently blocking traffic at the Genova Ovest toll booth Oct. 12. The CGIL labor union has organized the protest to demand increased pay.
The protest is blocking traffic along the A7 motorway and causing knock-on road traffic disruptions throughout much of central and west Genoa. Public transport services in the area may be canceled or diverted. Protest organizers have not stated when they intend to end the action. Additional police are deployed to the action; isolated clashes between protesters and security services are possible should police attempt to disperse participants.
