Water disruptions likely in parts of Sabah State, Malaysia, through Oct. 26. Business disruptions pssoible.
Event
Water supply disruptions are occurring in parts of Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, and Putatan in Sabah State as of Oct. 20 due to maintenance work at the Moyog Water Treatment Plant. The Sabah State Water Department (JANS) stated that the affected areas would experience reduced water pressure until maintenance works conclude Oct. 26. The impacted locations include Beverly Hills Apartments, Country Height Apartments, Donggongan, Terminal 1 of Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI), Kota Kinabalu city center, Kampung Ketiau, Kepayan, Koisaan Cultural Village, Kolombong, Likas, Signal Hill, and Tanjung Aru.
Reduced water pressure is unlikely to impact residents in the affected areas significantly. However, some business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water for operations.
Advice
Confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Pressure and water quality may be poor after normal service resumes; consider running taps for several minutes before using water. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes.
