Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) activists plan to hold a rally and a march in Podgorica Oct. 8. Participants will gather from 15:00 at Independence Square. Speeches and other programs will be held from 16:00. Counterdemonstrations are likely in the vicinity of the event.
A counterprotest organized by the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro is scheduled to be held in front of the Orthodox Temple of Christ's Resurrection in Podgorica Oct. 7; it remains unclear when the demonstration will start.
Heightened security is almost certain at the Pride march and any counterprotests. While the actions will likely pass peacefully, low-level scuffles between police, parade participants, and opposing activists cannot be ruled out. Localized transport disruptions are likely in affected areas. Public transit routes and schedules may change during the planned events.
