Emergency crews are responding to a fire at an apartment building in the resort and port town of Yeysk, Krasnodar Krai, the evening of Oct. 17. Preliminary reports indicate that the fire occurred when a Russian Air Force SU-34 fighter jet crashed into the structure shortly after taking off from a local military airfield on a training flight. Authorities have as yet released no information concerning possible casualties.

Heightened security and transport disruptions are likely near the crash site into at least the early morning hours of Oct. 18.
