Event

Authorities have closed the M25 London orbital motorway southbound (clockwise) at the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge Oct. 17 after protesters scaled the bridge superstructure. Two activists representing the Just Stop Oil group reportedly climbed onto the bridge and police have stopped traffic as a safety precaution.

The bridge closure has caused severe tailbacks and disruptions clockwise on the M25, and to local traffic in Essex and Kent as motorway traffic is diverted. Police and emergency services have deployed to monitor the situation.

Advice

Avoid the area if possible. Follow local traffic and security advice. Allow extra time for travel in the area.
